This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information. Our philosophy is simple: Your data belongs to you. We prioritize local processing and encryption to keep your personal information private.
Privacy-First Architecture
GlossVox is designed with a "Local-First" approach. Your recording history and personal dictionary are stored only on your device and are protected by AES-256 hardware-backed encryption. We do not have access to your local records.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Voice and Audio Data
When you use our voice input features, your audio is captured for the sole purpose of transcription (Speech-to-Text). Depending on your settings:
- Audio may be processed using on-device speech recognition capabilities.
- For advanced transcription, audio data is temporarily transmitted to our secure servers or trusted third-party providers (e.g., OpenAI).
- We do not store your raw audio files on our servers after the transcription is complete.
1.2 Text Content
When you use the "AI Polishing" or "Smart Edit" features, the text you provide is transmitted to our backend to be processed by artificial intelligence models. This data is used transiently to generate the polished version of your text and is not used to train public AI models.
1.3 Technical and Usage Data
To improve app stability and performance, we collect limited anonymous data:
- Device Identifiers: A unique anonymous ID (UUID) to manage your account and subscription status.
- Crash Reports: Information about app crashes to help us fix bugs (via tools like Firebase Crashlytics).
- Usage Statistics: Aggregated data on which features are used most frequently to guide future development.
2. How We Use Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide the core functionality of voice-to-text and AI text polishing.
- To manage your VIP subscription and provide access to premium features.
- To maintain the security and integrity of our services.
- To improve the App's performance and user experience.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with third parties in the following strictly limited cases:
- AI Service Providers: We use industry-leading AI partners (such as OpenAI) to process text and audio. These partners are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes or to train their models.
- Payment Processors: All subscriptions are handled via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your credit card information.

4. Your Rights and Control
You have full control over your data within GlossVox:
- Data Deletion: You can delete your recording history at any time within the App. Since this data is stored locally, deleting the App will also remove all local records.
- Permissions: You can grant or revoke microphone and storage permissions at any time through your device settings.
- Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and associated technical data by contacting us.
5. Data Security
We implement robust security measures to protect your data. Your local history is encrypted using AES-256, and all transmissions to our servers are encrypted via SSL/TLS. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. International Data Transfers
As a global service, your data may be processed on servers located outside of your home country. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR for European users.
